For extra chassis stiffness I wanted to install a monte carlo bar. I ordered one from CJ Pony Parts. When it arrived I found that it was going to be a bit of a pig to install as the distance between the shock towers didn’t match the width of the bar.
I tried installing the bar when the car was jacked up but it made no difference. I even loosened the stock brace, but no movement at all, which was surprising due to the state of the rest of the car. As a result the bar sat in the shed for a year before I tried again.
I decided brute force would be needed to proceeded to bend the bar tabs with a mallet until they were a close fit in the car. I then drilled the holes (the bar uses the shock tower cover holes) out and bolted it down. Not pretty, but its in.
